CAPMAS depends on the harmonized custom tariff articles issued by the president decree no. (38) dated 13 February 1994 (H.S) in preparing foreign trade data, according to special trade system until 2007 data which includes the customs declarations transmitted to CAPMAS after being released every month. As from January 2008 data, CAPMAS began to apply the general trade system and adoption of the harmonize system of 2007 version, CAPMAS depended on General Organization of Exports & Imports Control in collecting all its data as source of export statistics. For imports data, CAPMAS began collecting data from January 2008 through the website of the Customs Department, this system applied to more comprehensive statistical data also for international comparisons.
